Fondant!

Fondant Cake

After four years, I made a fondant cake again. I was nervous making it because it’s been a while since I last draped a cake with fondant.

After a lot of testing, I managed to get a great recipe for fondant (thanks to a good old friend). And it tastes better than fondant made from gummix. 🙂 I used marshmallows. Not only it make the taste of the fondant better, it’s much easier to work with. Hahaha. :p

I happened to make one and it was pretty decent. I’m a little bit rusty but I think I’ll get the hang of it again as I work on my projects. Hopefully there’ll be more in the future. Lol.

I was afraid of doing it since I remember back in school, I kept on tearing the fondant when draping it on the cake. I was lucky enough while I was working on this project that I managed to drape it perfectly. And I’m lucky enough that the weather wasn’t hot that the buttercream didn’t soften while I was doing this.

The ribbons reminds me of my Chocolate and Confectionary Class where we made chocolate ribbons, hehehe. Ribbons are made out of gumpaste and fondant. I think mixing both is better. I should do that next time.

The cake is Butter Cake with Buttercream Frosting. 🙂 You need a heavy cake when you’re using fondant, since fondant is heavy. It needs support.

I’ll also include the cupcakes with toppers here. :p

Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting and Onesie Toppers

All cupcakes are with White Onesie toppers. Easy but it gave me a headache thinking of designs.
