Customized Mini Cakes
A year ago, a client asked me to do a Barney themed Cake and Cupcakes, and Baby themed Sugar Cookies. A year later, I was asked by another client to do another Barney themed Cake this time, it was a two-tier cake. 🙂
The photo above was one of her orders, it was a customized mini cakes. With her daughter’s name on it (All of them are Chocolate Butter Cake with Buttercream Frosting). 🙂 The design of each mini cake was made upon her request, I tweaked it a little bit. And also used Barney colors or well the colors she wanted. 🙂 But in the end, the theme is still the colors of the four Barney characters.
2-tier Barney themed Fondant Cake
This Cake design was chosen by my client and I found the baker who did the original cake, if want to check it out, click the link here. I know my version was somewhat weird looking, but hey! I tried my best. And I’m happy that my client loved it. She basically chose two different shades of purple the bottom part in a darker shade. 🙂 The top part is a dummy cake by the way, the size is 8″ round styrofoam, I draped it with fondant. 🙂
The bottom is made out of real cake, it’s my usual Chocolate Butter Cake with Buttercream Frosting. And I’m lucky to find a 12″ cake pan (In which my client wanted). It was pretty funny since the baking supply store near home is not the usual baking store before, I just realized it when I can’t find their old stocks. Haha. So I have to go to their original store to get the cake pan size that I wanted.
Fondant Cupcakes (Barney theme)
The client also ordered Chocolate Cupcakes, fondant draped and the other has Buttercream Frosting on top. Both cupcake designs has a Barney character topper on top. 🙂

My client ordered both in individual packed (for giveaways) and a dozen each in a box (for display). The designs are the same in both individually packed and a box of 12’s.
Sugar Cookies (Barney theme)
I was so scared of making these at first since I’m really afraid the characters won’t look alike. But in the end, it was a pretty acceptable (I’m a perfectionist, please forgive me. Haha.) But I hate the weather though, it affected some of the sugar cookies, making the colors bleed. 😦 But then again, I’m thankful that it still looked like Barney and friends.
By the way, Happy Halloween everyone! It’s the last day of October and Christmas is just around the corner! I’m currently looking for some ideas to add on my Christmas menu, I’ve made some already, I’m going to add maybe two or three more! 🙂
